Fees & Payments Policy

(please note from 1 July 2024 some of the fees will be increased by 5-10% to keep up with the increasing costs)

We are dedicated to providing the best patient care without compromise. Our highly trained and qualified doctors will address your health care needs efficiently. 

Beach Road Surgery & Skin Clinic is a  Fully privately billing practice and appreciates full payment on the consultation day. We use Medicare online, so your rebate will be refunded promptly. We offer several payment options, including cash, EFTPOS and credit card. Please note there will be processing chargers for EFTPOS and Credit card payments depending on your financial institute.  

There is a change in the fees from 01 July 2023. Please check the fee structure before your bookings.

General practice - fee schedule

Standard Appointment (item 23 - Less than 15min consult time)

• Non concession holder - Out of Pocket cost: $53.80 (upfront fee of $95 with a Medicare rebate of $41.20)
• Pensioner and health care card holders - Out of Pocket cost: $43.80 (upfront fee of $85 with a Medicare rebate of $41.20)

Long Appointments (items 36 - Less than 30min consult time)

• Non concession holder - Out of Pocket cost: $55.30 (upfront fee of $135 with a Medicare rebate of $79.70)
• Pensioner and health care card holders - Out of Pocket cost: $45.39 (upfront fee of $125 with a Medicare rebate of $79.70)

If you spend more than 40min - Item 44

• Non concession holder - Out of Pocket cost: $62.60 (upfront fee of $180 with a Medicare rebate of $117.40)
• Pensioner and health care card holders - Out of Pocket cost: $52.60 (upfront fee of $170 with a Medicare rebate of $117.40

TeleHealth (Phone/Video call) Consultation - requires prior arrangement with the doctor

Standard Appointment (item 91891) Out of Pocket cost $38.80  (upfront fee $80 with a Medicare rebate of $41.20)

From 1 Jan 2023, Medicare rules are changing and we need written consent from the patient for every Telehealth appointment and please discuss this with reception before booking otherwise, you may not receive Medicare rebate.

We bulk bill only Health assessments.

Please note

• To avoid confusion, we do not bulk bill care plan consultations.
• Medicare item numbers are complex, and patients can not request a specific item number for their consult or treatment. It is the doctors' discretion to meet medicare rules and bill the item number appropriately. 
• Most item numbers are time-based, and it is time you spend with the doctor (Not the time you book the appointment for. (eg. If you book an appointment for 15min and spend 22min with the doctor, you will be charged for a longer consult)
• We do not bulk bill DVA patients.
• Non attendance fees applies if you do not cancel your appointment, 48hrs prior to your scheduled appointment time.
• Please do not request scripts, referrals and other clinical information via emails.

Skin Cancer care - Fee schedule

Skin Check Standard Appointment (item 23 - Less than 15min consult time)

• Non concession holder - Out of Pocket cost: $83.80 (upfront fee of $125 with a Medicare rebate of $41.20)
• Pensioner and health care card holders - Out of Pocket cost: $73.80 (upfront fee of $115 with a Medicare rebate of $41.20)

Skin Check Long Appointments (items 36 - Less than 30min consult time)

• Non concession holder - Out of Pocket cost: $80.30 (upfront fee of $160 with a Medicare rebate of $79.70)
• Pensioner and health care card holders - Out of Pocket cost: $70.30 (upfront fee of $150 with a Medicare rebate of $79.70)

Skin Biopsy and Cryotherapy

• Cryotherapy done at the same time of the skin check are bulk billed or no additional charge.
• Skin lesion biopsy one lesion - Out of pocket cost $30.
• Skin lesion biopsy up to 2 biopsies - Out of pocket cost $50
• Skin lesion biopsy 3-4 biopsies - Out of pocket cost $75
• Skin lesion biopsy 5-6 biopsies - Out of pocket cost $100
• If any skin biopsy (including excision biopsy) scheduled on a different day incur additional fees depending on the size and location of the lesion.

Surgical Excisions

• There will be an out of pocket fee. Usually, this is between $200-350 for Medicare rebatable item numbers. If the procedure is for cosmetic reasons and not covered by Medicare, the cost may be higher, and an estimate will be provided before the surgery. 
• Out of pocket cost depends on the complexity of the surgery, location on the body, the time required for the procedure, required instruments and consumables used, and aftercare needed following the surgery.
• Please discuss this with our reception team before your surgery or procedure.

Total Body Photography

• Initial set of High Definition clinical imaging and use of MoleMax HD - $350 (There will be NO medicare rebate on this and NOT covered by DVA)

Photo Dynamic Therapy

• For face and scalp $350 (There will be NO Medicare rebate on this and NOT covered by DVA)

Cosmetic procedures

• There will be no Medicare rebate for cosmetic procedures and these are privately billed.
• The cosmetic consult fee is $100, and this will be deducted from the cost of the treatment if performed at the time of your consultation.
• STRICTLY NO REFUNDS for any procedure or package you may have paid.
• There is no guarantee with medical procedures; the patients must understand procedures and potential downtime and possible complications. Treatments vary from individual to individual, and results may vary depending on how your body reacts. Whatever the outcome, the product and or service had been provided, and it is therefore not possible for the consulting doctor/therapist to refund procedure fees. This is non-negotiable. If you have paid for a Package and decided not to go ahead with the rest of the treatment, you will still be unable to request a refund. 
• Cosmetic products are non refundable once sold.

Please note that you need to have a consultation to discuss the appropriate treatment, as Medical Grade LASER treatment may not be suitable for everyone. It depends on your clinical condition, skin type and other factors. You may need multiple sessions to achieve the desired outcome.
